Identifying and Solving Common Issues with Movement Holder during Watch Assembly

Movement holder is an integral part of a watch. It holds the movement in place within the case and provides shock absorption. During watch assembly, we might encounter some problems with the movement holder, and here we’ll discuss what are these problems and how to fix them.

Movement holder gets stuck midway during installation

There might be a time when the movement holder seems to get stuck in a position where it becomes difficult to install it further in the case body. Here is a quick guide on how to fix this instance of movement holder getting stuck during a watch assembly.

You can try one of the following solutions:

1. the movement holder may be not aligned with the case. To align it, simply locate the small bump on the movement holder and align it to the notch inside the case;

2. Or, it might be the way it is put in: Try to first insert the movement holder slanted, with the side with the notch going into the case first, and once that side is in, push the opposite side in. If everything's correctly done, it shouldn't need much force

Movement holder fell out during installation

Sometimes, for bottom-loaded case, where you fit the movement assembly from bottom into the case, the movement holder, which is at the bottom of the mechanical movement, could fall out.

In this case, depending on the watch series, the solution can be really simple. For our Mosel series, there is no extra elements holding the movement holder in place, meaning that, you can just simply pop the movement holder back in without any extra steps.
